Irvinville: A Play by Theatre LuDu

May 16 at 6:00 pm 8:30 pm

Free RSVP in Advance

Theatre LuDu will present their original storytelling performance Irvinville alongside the Toxic Overburden exhibit at The Peale, Baltimore’s Community Museum. Inspired by the real-life lynching of the circus elephant Mary, Irvinville charts the rise and fall of your average American town succumbing to sinister environmental capitalism. Kevin Duvall and Lucius Robinson play the town’s worth of characters (including Mary!) in a highly-physical mythologizing of our nation’s greatest blunders.

Theatre LuDu’s performance of Irvinville will celebrate the Neighborhood Design Center’s Toxic Overburden exhibit and the good work done by the NDC youth on environmental toxicity.

The event will be free and open to the public. Performances will occur on Friday, May 16th at 6:00 PM and Saturday May 17th at 1:00 PM.

Theatre Ludu is a two-person theatre collective composed of Chicago performer Kevin Duvall and Baltimore theater maker Lucius Robinson. Both graduates of the Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theater, they strive to make theatre of the highest quality accessible to as many people and communities as possible, creating their performances minimally so that they may be performed in any space, at any time, for any audience. They first performed Irvinville for the 2023 Baduwat Festival in California and it has since toured to Richmond, Baltimore, and Chicago. They recently presented their second original performance PANIC at the 2024 Charm City Fringe Festival.

For more information, contact Lucius Robinson at theatreludu@gmail.com, or find them on social media @theatreludu.
