This October, the spirits come out to play in the nation’s oldest purpose-built museum building. Step into The Peale’s 211-year-old halls for spooky fun, haunted history, and maybe even a few ghostly encounters. Legend has that the ghosts of artists Rembrandt and Rubens Peale still linger in the galleries, and if you listen closely, you might hear the whispers of an exasperated Sarah Miriam Peale as she attempts to perfect her portraiture under the constant gaze of her cousin, Rembrandt. Costumes are encouraged, and eerie surprises await around every corner.
