The Peale is seeking a creative problem solver with experience in arts administration, education, or workforce development to serve as the Program Coordinator.
The Program Coordinator works closely with The Guild Program Manager, Assistant Instructor of The Guild, and current apprentices. The Guild is a paid, hands-on workforce development program, with a focus on historic preservation. Apprentices learn skills in carpentry, masonry, blacksmithing, and historic window restoration. The Guild also offers wrap-around support services such as nutrition classes, financial literacy sessions, and life planning with the Chris Wilson Foundation.
Work Schedule: 21 hours per week from September – end of December 2026. Work is primarily on-site and at partner sites. Mondays – Wednesdays, 9AM-4PM with occasional meetings outside of those days and hours.
Wage Range and Benefits: $20-$25 an hour. This position receives 10 days of PTO. No other benefits are offered fort his position at this time.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting apprentices on projects, including supervision of power tool usage.
- Ensuring strong foundational learning for apprentices.
- Supporting The Guild Program Manager with tracking and record keeping, monitoring program progress, and ensuring accurate reporting.
- Supervising hands-on instruction and working throughout the program to ensure learning outcomes are positive.
- Working collaboratively with the Assistant Instructor to modify learning plans to apprentices’ different learning styles.
- Assisting with apprentice skills assessments.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this position is an excellent communicator with experience managing multifaceted projects. The Program Coordinator must work well with minimal daily direction, but also mindful of when to request additional support from the team. Because of the dynamic nature of this program, the Program Coordinator must be flexible and adept at recognizing a need, and able to adapt to processes to meet changing demands. Experience working with young adults as well as returning citizens, and people from disadvantaged backgrounds is essential. Experience motivating individuals is highly desirable. Candidates should also have experience working within the Microsoft Office Suite [Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel].
