Rediscovering Glenn Walker: Baltimore’s Hidden Master

In the heart of Baltimore’s art history lies a story of talent, controversy, and rediscovery. Glenn Walker, a painter whose works captured the grit, humor, and humanity of everyday Baltimore life, is finally receiving the recognition he deserves.

The Peale is proud to present Glenn Walker: In the Room and Beyond (compliments of Buzz Cusack) an exhibition that shines a light on this hidden master. For decades, Walker’s art has been known mostly to those who lived alongside him. Now, his bold wit, sharp observations, and Baltimore roots are back in focus — and available for the public to experience.

Why Glenn Walker Matters

Walker’s paintings reveal slices of life in mid-20th century Baltimore. His works combine everyday beauty with an artist’s eye for critique and humor. And while he was celebrated in small circles, he never achieved the wide recognition his work merits — until now.

A Rare Opportunity

This exhibition is more than a look back. It may also be the final chance to view and purchase Walker’s original works before they return to private hands. Prices offer both seasoned collectors and first-time buyers a chance to own a piece of Baltimore’s cultural legacy. “Glenn Walker’s story is one of resilience and rediscovery,” says John Suau, Executive Director of The Peale. “We’re honored to bring his work back into the public eye, and to give Baltimoreans the opportunity to connect with him in a meaningful way.”
