Baltimore, MD – The Illuminator Awards will recognize Cara Ober, artist, arts writer and founding editor of BmoreArt. She is being honored for her tireless advocacy. Her storytelling on behalf of Baltimore’s arts community is also being recognized. As executive director of BmoreArt, Ober has spent over a decade building a local audience for art and culture. She has also built a national and international audience. She has raised public awareness and significant funding for the organization. She collaborated with museums, colleges, businesses, and government agencies. They created opportunities for collective success.

Under her leadership, BmoreArt has grown from an online publication into a multifaceted publisher. It became an art gallery, collecting initiative, and curatorial consultant. The platform produces print journals. It also creates award‑winning art books.

The platform hosts panel discussions and exhibitions. It advocates for Baltimore as a site of significant cultural production. BmoreArt was named “Best of Baltimore” by Baltimore Magazine in 2024, 2017 and 2014.
