The Guild @ The Peale
Building the Next Generation of Preservation Tradespeople

The Guild @ The Peale is a paid apprenticeship program training the next generation of preservation tradespeople while creating pathways to stable, well-paying careers for Baltimore residents.
Launched in 2020, the program provides hands-on experience in historic building trades including masonry repair, carpentry, window restoration, plastering, and conservation of historic materials. Apprentices work alongside experienced preservation professionals while also gaining life skills such as financial literacy and career planning.
With a focus on equity and inclusion, The Guild supports people from marginalized communities who have historically faced barriers to entering the preservation trades. Graduates leave with nationally recognized skills and professional networks that prepare them for meaningful employment in a growing field.
The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Labor and supported in part by the TransAmerica Foundation, the Sheridan Foundation, and the Baltimore National Heritage Area.
