The Peale is Baltimore’s Community Museum.

Call for Volunteers: Artscape 2026

Each year, Artscape transforms downtown Baltimore into one of the largest free arts festivals in the United States, drawing thousands of visitors for music, performances, exhibitions, installations, and creative programming throughout the city.

Located just steps from Baltimore City Hall, The Peale — Baltimore’s Community Museum — becomes an active hub during Artscape, hosting special exhibitions, creative workshops, storytelling programs, and community gatherings throughout the festival.

To make this possible, we rely on an incredible team of volunteers who help welcome visitors, support programs, and ensure the museum runs smoothly during the busy festival weekend.

If you’re looking for Artscape volunteer opportunities in Baltimore, we invite you to join us.

About The Peale

Founded in 1814 by Rembrandt Peale, The Peale is the oldest purpose-built museum building in the United States and today serves as Baltimore’s Community Museum. Through exhibitions, storytelling projects, public programs, and cultural collaborations, The Peale explores Baltimore’s past while creating space for new stories and creative experimentation. During Artscape, the museum becomes a lively gathering place where visitors, artists, and neighbors come together to celebrate Baltimore’s creativity.
